Search Queries
Names, locations, and other terms submitted through a search tool go directly to the outside company that operates it. That company processes the request and returns the results. Elk County Criminal History does not independently store or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email correspondence may be kept as needed to answer the message and administer the exchange. It is not shared outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Basic technical information may be recorded automatically when a visitor loads a page:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Elk County Criminal History does not host, assemble, or sell a database of individual criminal records. Its content directs readers to sources such as Elk County Clerk of Courts, local police and custody offices, the Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, and the Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Public Website. Visitor data is not used to build criminal-history files or consumer reports, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is subject to the search provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own collection, retention, and disclosure practices. Visitors should read those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court portals, law-enforcement pages, Pennsylvania agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy terms control. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select interest-based ads. That processing occurs under the provider's practices.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be received by:
- Search providers that process a visitor's query
- Advertising networks that serve page advertisements
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, customary safeguards are used for collected information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, however, so absolute protection and freedom from a breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its prompt deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights and remedies may be available under Pennsylvania law, including the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, 73 P.S. ยงยง 201-1 through 201-9.3, depending on the circumstances. The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law applies to covered public agencies. The Criminal History Record Information Act, 18 Pa.C.S. Chapter 91, controls criminal-history collection and dissemination by criminal justice agencies. Neither public-record statute makes this privately operated site a government custodian. Where applicable law provides, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information held about the visitor
- Seek deletion of that information
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Decline certain forms of processing when the law permits
